2nd Quarter Tournament

LXG Golfers,

So far I haven't heard any suggestions / comments to the 2nd quarter tournament starting on May 4th, 2008. So I assume we are set to go and that the 2nd quarter celebrants will pick up the tab for a lunch at LZM sometime in June. Please advise. Until next time may you hit fairways and greens!!!!

LTO Vehicle Registration

I'm passing on to you an e-mail message I received today:

Text this:

LTO space VEHICLE space XXX000 e.g., LTO VEHICLE XKY263. XXX000 stands for your vehicle's PLATE NUMBER. SEND to 2600 and wait for Auto generated reply then save to your phone. Pag nagka-aberya sa CHECKPOINT at mukhang peperahan lang kayo ng pulis ipakita nyo lang yang txt mssge. At prente sasabihin nila sa inyo pasensya na sa abala.

I tried it, it works!

LXG Half-Page Advertisement

Last Feb 2008, the LXG Family donated P2500 for a half-page advertisement in the souvenir program of "Br. Stephen Rabisa FSC Gift of Education" project. This is a worthy cause of De La Salle Lipa HS Class 1964, of which our fellow LXG Member Lito Abad is an active alumnus. Please see our ad below:In November 2007, our LXG Family also donated P2000, used in purchasing X'mas goodies distributed to the scholars of their Class 1964. Below is the Thank You note of the scholars (You may also wish to log-on to their website: http://dlsl-hs64.smugmug.com/gallery/4068491/12/236947096).

My Comments: Junvee's Proposal re Tournament

My Comments are:
1. It's okay that we use the Modified Stableford System for the Qualifying Round
2. For the Individual Matches of the Top 8, however, I suggest we use net stroke play.
3. Individual Matches for the Semi-Finals and Finals may be scheduled by the two players involved, not later than a pre-determined date and not necessarily on a regular Sunday game

Junvee's Proposal: Format of 2Q'08 Tournament

Starting 1st quarter 2008, we started implementing the suggestion of Tito Sanchez making the birthday celebrants of the quarter to manage and host the tournament for the quarter.
For the 2nd quarter, our birthday celebrants will be: Junvee Vital, Tony Perez, Chris Jao, and Cesar Zulueta. Junvee has requested me to publish his proposal below, for which he invites comments and suggestions:

Format - Modified Stableford System
Qualifying Round - All LXG members shall play on 04 May 2008
Top 8 Qualifiers - Please see graph below for the play-offs
Handicaps - May 2008 board handicaps; Maximum allowed is 36
Tournament Fee - P250 per LXG member, whether or not playing
Prize Money - P2K to Champion; P1K to Runner-up; balance to taxes
Lunch Money - Celebrants will shoulder the LZM lunch.

Dok L has the "K"

Everybody else should stop yakking - only Doc La Rosa has the "K" to talk! Case closed!

With a total of 37 Stableford points, Doc L was declared the Champion of the 1st quarter 2008 LXG tournament held yesterday at the Langer Course, earning him 20 G.O.Y. points.

Golf Hall of Shame # 1

The unofficial record for the longest putt in golf's history belongs to Dale Douglas who was forced to tee off the first round of 1981 Kempier Open with his putter because of a mix up, his caddie and clubs were at the wrong tee. So Douglas used his putter to stroke the ball 150 yards straight down the fairway! The red-faced caddie caught up in time for Dale's 2nd shot at the Congresional Country Club. (HE HE HE !!!!)
